Real life reminders that even just one hour matters!
If you’ve ever felt powerless or ‘too busy to make a difference’, here are some real life reminders from some of our ‘boots on the ground – i.e. team members of TheOneHourProject’ on what a difference an hour makes. And when we say ‘make a difference’, we don’t just mean in the volunteer sense. One hour can be so impactful even in our day-to-day lives – just ask that friend that needed an hour of listening.
Read on to see what the team said:
Question : “What has one hour taught you”?
“One hour taught me that even the smallest things can indeed make an impact” – Jeremiah
“TOHP has taught me the true power of EFFORT—the choice to reach out, to make time, and to genuinely listen. Even small, intentional efforts can make people feel seen and supported. When we show up with purpose, those moments create connection, growth, and impact that lasts far beyond one hour. “ – Beatrice
“One hour taught me that it’s enough to help or make a difference” – Kristin
“One hour with intention and action is more than the sum of its parts, going further and deeper than 60 minutes” – Romina
Question: What Can You Give in One Hour?
“I can advise a friend in need or meet with a nonprofit. Even for more than an hour!” – Beatrice
“I can offer one hour of my skills, attention, and effort to support a cause” – Gladys
“I can offer an hour of listening to a community that may have been marginalised and turn that hour into action” – Romina
“I can give my one hour to a friend who just needs someone to listen to his/her rants and not judge” – Kristin
We hope these answers inspired you as much as they reminded and refuelled us as the year began. And now we ask you- what can you give for an hour this 2026?
