Let’s pause before we fully jump into 2026 and the impact we want to make.
January can feel so frenetic when we set our goals – it’s a mix of feelings ranging from anxious and disappointed from the previous year to hopeful and raring to go in the new year. Throw in a dash of excitement, a sprinkling of caution and maybe even some exhaustion. For us working on social impact, we get the full range! So before we fully dive into 2026, we share 4 questions to reflect on that might help us ease into our impact goals more gently and more thoughtfully.
- What gave me hope? What stirred a sense of ‘oh! This is so wonderful’ in your heart? Was it a movement? A post? A campaign? This question guides us into where we might want to lend support in 2026.
- Who or what did I wish had more help? Was there an organisation that you felt could have used more support?
- What’s my bandwidth like? This question reminds us to pause before making any big commitments and reminds us that doing good shouldn’t drain us. It might make us ‘good tired’ and fulfilled but it shouldn’t be draining.
- What’s something I can contribute to – even for just an hour a month? Volunteering or trying to make an impact doesn’t have to be huge. An hour a month can spark a world of difference. Is it helping an NGO with their social media? Or is it an hour of helping set up an event?
One last bonus question “But where and how do I even start?” – If you aren’t sure and need advise, drop us an email at hello@theonehourproject.com and let’s have a conversation.
While it’s wonderful to dream big, we hope this was a gentle reminder to be gentle with yourself – and if and when you’re ready, we’re right here to help you get started.
