We all show our love in different ways. For our family and friends, we give gifts or offer encouraging words.
For organizations like MINDS, love is shown through service—uplifting individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID). They provide vocational training, organize social activities, and support families facing challenges. Through these acts of service, MINDS creates a caring community where everyone can thrive.
Let’s take a moment to explore how MINDS is spreading love and compassion throughout Singapore, particularly through its MINDS MYG initiative.
MINDS MYG: A Focus on Community Engagement

MINDS MYG (formerly known as MINDS Youth Group) runs eleven project groups that provide weekly three-hour sessions for about 200 beneficiaries every Saturday or Sunday. These sessions include social, recreational, and training activities tailored to different age groups and needs, ensuring each participant receives personalized support.
Structured Activities

The sessions at MINDS MYG are structured around a framework of five key activities:
- Sing-along: A fun and lively session where beneficiaries warm up by singing and dancing to cheerful music, setting a positive tone for the day.
- Curriculum Development Training: A structured programme where beneficiaries learn essential life skills. Activities include identifying numbers and colours, understanding money concepts, practising social and communication skills, exploring arts and crafts, and reinforcing important values.
- Physical and Recreational Training: Fun exercises and activities that help beneficiaries stay active and improve their motor skills. These can range from sports and games to yoga, aerobics, or even K-pop dance sessions.
- Tea Break: A well-deserved snack break where beneficiaries can relax and recharge after their physical activities.
- Events & Outings: Beyond regular sessions, annual camps and outings are organised to give beneficiaries opportunities to explore new places, enjoy exciting activities, and create lasting memories.
These thoughtfully planned activities do more than just teach skills—they help participants build confidence, connect with others, and feel loved in a supportive community.
Spreading Love Through Community Involvement
At TheOneHourProject (TOHP), we’re proud to partner with MINDS to empower individuals with special needs.
If you want to share the love this month—and beyond—consider volunteering as a Weekend MYG Befriender. Through engaging activities like warm-up dances, games, and outings, you’ll help create a supportive environment where people of different ages can build confidence and meaningful connections.
Remember, every moment you share counts, whether it’s an hour or more. Together, let’s create a loving community where everyone feels valued and supported.
