Enabling the Youth Towards a Sustainable Future

by Mavell Macaranas-Dojillo

The EB Impact is clear in its motives: to provide the youth with the education they need to take the most sustainable steps forward. The non-profit organization, built in Singapore in 2019, has since been doing the rounds to deliver training and workshops that will help realize the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the Asia Region, particularly #4 (quality education), #11 (sustainable cities and communities), and #13 (climate action).

One of their ongoing programs is Sustainability Exchange, a youth-professional mentorship initiative in partnership with Meta and OCBC Bank. TheOneHourProject (TOHP) has become a knowledge partner and is supporting the organization in finding pitch coaches for this year’s cohort. Through TOHP, volunteers may sign in as participants to provide support in brand storytelling and presentation skills.

Season 4: The Launchpad of Initiatives

The fourth edition of the Sustainability Exchange provides support in essential areas such as vision planning, impact measurement, partnerships, and brand storytelling. As the youth become more aware of the climate crisis, they are tapped to develop a solution toward a more sustainable future, capitalizing on the principles of design thinking, interest in influencing others, and desire to make a positive impact in their communities.

What’s in it for the Participants?

Sustainability Exchange facilitates workshops with professional mentors and expert coaches to equip youth participants with important knowledge to help them advance in their careers in sustainability. In addition to providing access to mentors, the program provides essential sustainability programming to help participants find opportunities to drive real impact. Some of these topics include brand storytelling, grant writing, impact measurement, and partnerships.

What’s for the Mentors?

Mentors who sign up to participate in the Sustainability Exchange also stand to gain several benefits. One of them, of course, is getting a front seat to the freshest youth talents they can attract to their organization. In addition to this, recognition as an EB Impact partner is an honor in itself because it means guiding the next generation toward making a positive impact in the community.

Who are some of the past winners?

Meat the Future – This non-profit initiative is among the winners of Sustainability Exchange Season 3. It has made such significant progress since, creating ties with various partners, recruiting volunteers, and delegating tasks to make their dreams come true of promoting the advantages of sustainable diets and alternative proteins, changing consumer perceptions in the process through a fusion of education and entertainment.

Artimal – Another venture worth looking into is Artimal, which intersects the human-wildlife interactions in Singapore with the use of art, sustainability, and technology. It made good results with the funding it received for being one of the winners of the Sustainability Exchange Season 3.

In a world where the challenges of climate change and sustainability grow more pressing by the day, the EB Impact’s initiatives, like the Sustainability Exchange, offer a beacon of hope. By empowering the youth with the tools, knowledge, and networks they need to make a difference, they are not just shaping future leaders—they are creating a legacy of impact that will resonate for generations to come. TheOneHourProject is proud to stand alongside EB Impact in this journey, committed to rallying skilled volunteers who bring their expertise to support initiatives like these. By connecting seasoned professionals with youth-led projects, we ensure that the next generation of changemakers has the mentorship and practical skills needed to drive real, lasting impact.

The program’s past winners, such as Meat the Future and Artimal, are testaments to what can be achieved when passion, innovation, and guidance converge. As we look to the future, the question is not just what these young leaders will achieve next, but how we can all support and amplify their efforts to build a more sustainable world for all.
