A Year to Remember for TOHP: Our Organisation Milestones and What Lies Ahead

by Ysabella Louise Ante
Last February 22, our founder Madelene Ortega proudly represented TOHP among over 500 leaders—discussing ways to improve our communities and develop strong leadership.

As 2024 comes to an end, it’s a perfect time to reflect on what we’ve accomplished together at TheOneHourProject (TOHP).

This year has been transformative, filled with new partnerships, new volunteer opportunities, and big events that have truly made a difference. Together, we’ve worked hard to change lives, one hour at a time.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate our achievements!

New Partnerships

This year, we established new partnerships with these organisations:

BAGUS Together

We’re proud to partner with BAGUS Together, which supports grassroots organisations in Singapore by encouraging collaboration among community members. This initiative provides resources, training, and support to help these groups launch and grow their projects.

Ocean Purpose Project

We’re also glad to work with the Ocean Purpose Project, which focuses on environmental protection and raising awareness about marine health. This project truly inspires individuals to take action for cleaner oceans.

EB Impact

We have also partnered with EB Impact, a charity dedicated to promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Singapore and across Asia. EB Impact focuses on creating youth and education programs for underserved communities by collaborating with NGOs, businesses, and public institutions.

Climate Hack

Climate Hack was one of our new partners, dedicated to finding innovative solutions to climate change. Through workshops, mentorship, and collaborative projects, Climate Hack encouraged participants to think creatively and adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.

AlterCOP

Last November 11 to 22, we partnered with the AlterCOP event, a remote alternative to COP29 in Azerbaijan. This innovative platform brought together over 250 speakers and trainers and attracted more than 2,100 attendees, allowing participants to engage in real-time climate discussions and engaging workshops.

All in all, these new partnerships show our commitment to empowering communities and promoting environmental conservation—and we look forward to building more collaborations like these in the coming year!

New Volunteer Opportunities

Aside from partnerships, we celebrated a major milestone by introducing new volunteer roles and gathering about 100 passionate volunteers. Here’s a look at the organisations our volunteers have supported:

BINHI English Literacy Foundation

We promoted six volunteer opportunities—Copywriter, Canva Artist, Photographer, Videographer, Video Editor, and Onsite Tester—to support BINHI’s mission of improving reading skills for young learners in the Philippines.

The Safe Space Foundation (TSSF)

We filled two remote roles—Social Media Specialist and Social Media Content Creator—to enhance TSSF’s online presence and ensure essential mental health resources reach those in need.

Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS)

We promoted roles such as Morning Walk Befriender and Training Officer Assistance, allowing volunteers to engage with and support persons with intellectual disabilities (PWIDs) while helping them develop important skills.

AlterCOP

During the sustainability summit held from November 11 to 22 in Singapore, we gathered volunteers for the marketing and outreach team. Their role was to help spread the word about climate action and engage the community in meaningful discussions.

Climate Hack

We supported three roles—Storytelling Consultant, Digital Marketing Consultant, and Pitch Coach—to help Climate Hack develop innovative solutions for climate challenges.

Overall, these new volunteer opportunities have empowered individuals to make a positive impact in communities and support important causes across different sectors.

Big Events

This year, TOHP participated in several important events in Singapore:

City of Good Summit

Last February 22, our founder Madelene Ortega proudly represented TOHP among over 500 leaders—discussing ways to improve our communities and develop strong leadership.

Digital Marketing Changemaker Program

In partnership with BAGUS Together, our Digital Marketing Changemakers Program on April 16 included three sessions focused on enhancing digital skills for grassroots organizations and volunteers. This program facilitated learning and collaboration, which empowered participants to use digital tools for greater community impact.

Digital for Good

On October 8, we teamed up with Temasek Trust and TikTok for an inspiring event that highlighted how digital tools can create positive change in our world.

These events have truly strengthened our mission and fostered meaningful connections within our community.

A Bright Future for TOHP

With all that said, 2024 has been a year of growth for TOHP, and we are incredibly thankful to our partners and volunteers—your support has made a huge difference in driving our mission forward. Thank you for being part of this journey with us!

Looking ahead, we’re excited to build on our successes by creating even more meaningful volunteer opportunities and strengthening our partnerships. Together with our partner NGOs, we will continue to tackle important social issues around Asia.
